REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING Monday, March 9, 2026 1. Call to Order/ Pledge of Allegiance The meeting was called to order by Joe Ward, School Board Chair, at 7:01 p.m. 2. Roll Call MEMBERS PRESENT: Jennifer McDonald, Lynn Peterson, Amy Pocrnich, Jim Podgornik, Larry Shelton, Tammy Sundbom, and Joe Ward MEMBERS ABSENT: None STUDENT LIAISON MEMBERS: Malikia Brostrom and Laykn Lyons Also in Attendance: Tim Rohweder, Superintendent, and Business Manager Garret Hultgren 3. Adoption of Agenda MOTION: Moved by Amy Pocrnich and seconded by Larry Shelton to adopt the Agenda as submitted. Motion approved by unanimous vote. 5. Approval of the Minutes of the Regular School Board Meeting of February 23, 2026. MOTION: Moved by Jennifer McDonald and seconded by Jim Podgornik to approve the Minutes of the Regular School Board meeting of February 23, 2026, as submitted. Motion approved by unanimous vote. 6. Public Comment – None 7. Communications a. Commendations/Congratulations i. Commended REA3D for their continued support of lifelong learning and hosting the REA3D by Candlelight Dinner held on February 20. ii. Commended the following 8th grade students for being selected to participate in the 59th Annual UMD Honor Band on February 24: Noah Larson, Karleigh Vis, Lily Percival, Rocky Shaner, Georgia Miner, Maverick Ruhnke, and Zoe Andres. iii. Commended Chloe Carlson for being named All-State for Girls Basketball in Class AA. iv. Congratulated the following students who earned honorable mention for their short film at the Student Television Network Competition in Tampa, FL, last week: Alex Addy, Aliyah Schnepper, Dean Sanderson, Rylee Rogge, and Lily Shaw. b. Consent Agenda MOTION: Moved by Amy Pocrnich and seconded by Tammy Sundbom to approve the consent agenda as submitted. Motion approved by unanimous vote. a. Accepted Juan Mancera’s resignation as a 14 hour per week custodian at the secondary site, effective March 11, 2026. b. Accepted Teodoro Rangel’s resignation as the lead assistant baseball coach, effective February 24, 2026. c. Accepted Sheri Klicka’s retirement letter as the attendance aide at the secondary site, effective June 2, 2026. d. Approved the recommendation to hire Mark Frey as a 20 hours per week/12-month custodian C-III (afternoons/evenings) at Bay View Elementary, effective March 9, 2026. e. Eliminated two (2) 14 hour per week custodian positions at the secondary site. f. Eliminated a 20 hour per week/9 month custodian C-III position at Bay View Elementary. Patti Grosnick resigned from this position. g. Created a 32.5 hour per week educational assistant position at Bay View Elementary due to increased needs in the Setting 3 program. h. Approved the recommendation from the Superintendent, Individual Contract Committee, and the Community Education Director to approve the contract for Rebecca Oman, Kids’ Zone Bay View Site Manager. i. Approved the recommendation from the Superintendent, Individual Contract Committee, and the Community Education Director to approve the contract for Krista Paulick, Kids’ Zone Pike Lake Site Manager. j. Approved the recommendation from the Superintendent and the Individual Contract Committee to approve the contract for Scott Fitzsimmons, Director of Educational Technology. k. Approved the recommendation from the Community Education Director to approve an hourly wage increase for Ines Chandler, Proctor School Age Child Care Coordinator, effective September 1, 2025. l. Approved the spring coaches and volunteers for the 2025-26 season. 9. Informational Items and Reports a. Pre-approved Presentations – None b. Superintendent Report c. Strategic Plan Update – InGensa will be at all sites tomorrow. d. Reports i. School Board/District Committees 1. Community Education Advisory & Early Learning Council ii. Enrollment Report for March 2026 iii. Legislative Updates – Tim mentioned the statewide insurance bill being proposed and the hold-harmless money. iv. Board Goals v. Township and City Communications – Tomorrow night is the evening for township meetings. We have representatives from the board attending each meeting. 10. Action Items (Items for Individual Action) a. Finance Director’s Report and Approval of Treasurer’s Report MOTION: Moved by Amy Pocrnich and seconded by Larry Shelton to approve the payment of bills dated February 26, 2026, in the amount of $391,043.61 covering checks 125982 through 126014, and all ACH transfers; payment of bills dated March 2, 2026, in the amount of $419,192.58 covering checks 126015 through 126082, void checks 125419 and 125434; and approve the electronic transfers and payrolls for February 2026 as submitted. Motion approved by unanimous vote. b. Items that Require Board Approval i. Approved the recommendation by Tim Rohweder, Superintendent, and the administrative team to amend the 2025-2026 calendar to make April 6 a student-contact day instead of a professional development day to make up for weather-related closures that occurred this year. She further commended Tim for his communication methods. b. Student liaisons added comments about the PSEO option. Both endorsed the idea of the Proctor U concept. c. Lynn mentioned the upcoming production of Annie, including ticket prices and times. 12. ORDER FOR HEARING STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF ST.
