Important Information Regarding Assessment and Classification of Property This may affect your 2024 property tax payments. Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization of the City of Floodwood shall meet on May 10th, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at Floodwood City Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and to determine whether corrections need to be made. If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization. The board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. FLOODWOOD BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MINUTES
Board of Education Working Seassion March 13, 2023 The Working Session was called to order in the media center at 5:45pm by Chair Hall. Members present at roll call: Johnson, Hall, Suonvieri, Rohde and Miller. Also present: Superintendent/Principal Jonathan Payne, and Business Manager Haley Walsh. Zoom was available as well. Superintendent Payne gave an update on his variance as an agenda addition. Minutes from February 27, 2023 regular meeting and notes from February 27, 2023 Facilities were reviewed. Discussion took place regarding the need for tech services through IASC and the purposed service agreement with Hill City. Additional discussion took place regarding test scores since upgrading technology and cell phone use in schools. Discussion took place regarding new MSBA policy 516.5 Overdose Medications. Will be placed as an action item on regular meeting to start the process of adopting the policy or waiting until there is more information on the kits for schools being released by MDH. Discussion took place regarding Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff returning for FY24. There is currently only one staff member in this classification. Superintendent Payne updated the board on the unrequested leave of absence process and will have an update at the regular meeting after review of the budget and needs to make any reductions. Review of results of the preschool enrollment survey took place. Discussion took place regarding policy for students with allergies, staff training and cost of preschool for the 3-year-old program. Superintendent Payne provided an update on the bid process for capital improvements to the cold storage wing of the school building. The board will take action on the bids at the regular meeting. Upcoming meetings were reviewed. Chair Hall called the meeting to order at 5:45 PM. A virtual Zoom option was available. Board members present at roll call were: Steve Hall, Tracy Hutchinson, Tanya Johnson, Leanaya Miller, Dave Rohde and Corinne Suonvieri. Also present: Superintendent/Principal Jonathan Payne, Administrative Assistant Ashley Engh, Business Manager Haley Walsh and two audience members via zoom. Motion by Hutchinson, seconded by Miller, to approve the agenda. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Suonvieri, seconded by Hutchinson, to approve the Consent Agenda including the following agenda items: Minutes of the February 27, 2023 regular meeting, minutes of the March 13, 2023 Working Session and notes of February 27, 2023 Facilities Meeting. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Ashley Engh Community Ed Coordinator, Frank Bartsch Activities Director, Amanda Fjeld Instructional/Behavioral coach, Superintendent/Principal Jonathan Payne reports to the board and Meet and Confer overview were reviewed. Motion by Hutchinson, seconded by Miller, to approve the IASC Tech purchase of services agreement with Hill City. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Suonvieri, seconded by Miller, to approve the 2023 Football Cooperative Agreement between ISD95, Cromwell-Wright Public School and ISD 698, Floodwood Public School. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Hutchinson, seconded by Johnson, to approve the February monthly claims and accounts and Cash Flow report (payroll totaling $161,160.94, AP totaling $78,092.49, Cash Flow dated 2/28/2023) all of which may be found in the official district minute book. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Suonvieri, seconded by Hutchinson, to approve the revised 2022-2023 budget. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Board tabled continued FY24 employment for Joe Skripsky, Industrial Arts/CTE teacher, contingent upon the ability to obtain Tier 1 or 2 licensure to look at procedure prior to approving contract. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Suonvieri, to approve schedule C contract for Joe Skripsky, Head Baseball Coach for 2023 season, pending participation numbers for a season to occur. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Hutchinson, seconded by Miller, to approve schedule C contract for Brea Wallaker, Head Softball Coach for 2023 season. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Suonvieri, to approve schedule C contract for Jeral Vance, Assistant Softball Coach for 2023 season. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Suonvieri, to reject the bids received for capital improvements for Polar Cubs Childcare Center project due to plans and specifications from the architect not being appropriate for the fund source. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Motion by Hutchinson, seconded by Suonvieri, to approve contract amendment with Short Elliot Hendrickson for additional professional design services for the public bidding, permitting and construction administration services for the daycare project, pending reimbursement of expenses from Polar Cubs Childcare Center. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Discussion took place regarding the new policy and school overdose kits being offered in the future by MDH. We will revisit once more information is available and guidance has been given by the Minnesota Department of Education. Upcoming meetings were announced.
