NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING and ELECTION OF OFFICERS and BOARD OF CANVASS MEETING

Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of Solway Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota that Solway Township will, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, conduct its Annual Town Meeting and Election at the Solway Town Hall located at 4029 Munger Shaw Road. The Election polls will be open from NOON to 8:00 PM to elect one supervisor for a three-year term. The Annual Meeting will commence at 8:30 PM to conduct all necessary business as prescribed by law. The Town Office will be open for Absentee Voting from 10:00 a.m.to noon on Saturday, March 11, 2023, and on Monday, March 13, 2023, until 5:00 p.m. Some of the agenda items to be discussed at the Annual Meeting are as follows: • Report of the 2022 Receipts and Disbursements • Town Hall Rental Fees • Fire Department Report • Proposed Budget and Levy for 2024 In case of bad weather, the Annual Town Meeting and Election will be held at the same time and place on the third Tuesday of March. MIDWAY TOWNSHIP Midway Residents The Midway Town Hall will be open Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the Public Accuracy Test of the DS-200 optical scan and the Auto Mark voting equipment. Recognized our school counselors; Jim Vos, Becky LaPlant, Brandon DeLacey, Emily Vos, and Natalie Lehto, and the job they do with our students. February 6-10 is National School Counseling Week. C. Student Liaison members Brooklyn Burch and Eden Giswold presented appreciation plaques to each board member. Plaques were designed and created in Mr. Honkala’s class. D. Commended Lori Johnson for her professionalism and tenacity in preparing the updates to the policies; it was a tedious and exacting process. IX. Public Comment A. Lashawn Bullock addressed the board and asked about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day being observed as a national holiday. In our district, it was a teacher inservice and training day. He further asked about the curriculum regarding Black history month. X. Consent Agenda MOTION: Moved by Amy Pocrnich and seconded by Larry Shelton, to approve the consent agenda as submitted. A. Personnel Items 1. Approved the sixth assignment CITS Comp for Erik Edmunds for the second semester of the 2022-23 school year. 2. Approved the recommendation to hire Adam Shykes as the head baseball coach for the 2022-2023 season. Anthony Bush was previously the head coach. 3. Approved the recommendation to hire Gabriel Short into the 14 hours per week midday custodian position at Bay View Elementary effective January 18, 2023. Todd Bakke previously held this position. 4. Approved the lane change request for Jill Hildr effective January 30, 2023. 5. Approved the lane change request for Natalie Lehto effective January 30, 2023. 6. Approved the lane change request for Kristina Otten effective January 30, 2023. 7. Approved the lane change request for Luke Ratike effective January 30, 2023. 8. Approved the lane change request for Sara Yost effective January 30, 2023. 9. Approved the lane change request for Anna Estep effective January 30, 2023. 10. Approved the lane change request for Teresa Nyberg effective January 30, 2023. 11. School Board Celebrations a) Lynn Peterson reported on the Pike Lake Elementary holiday concert held last week, and she encouraged board members to attend the REA3D event on February 24. b) Kim Parmeter thanked the district for sending board members to the MSBA conference. She gave a shout out to RAILS TV for raising funds by selling beanies and hats. She reported that Cecelia Parmeter received her gold award for Girl Scouts through shining a light on fine arts in our district. She reminded the board that the drama club will have a family performance at 4:00 p.m. in the auditorium in preparation for the one act play competition on Tuesday. She thanked the student liaisons for the awards the board received. c) Amy Pocrnich will interview people in Proctor to add information to the website. d) Joe Ward thanked the district for sending the board to the MSBA conference and praised the opening speaker at the conference, Doc Brown. e) Jennifer McDonald mentioned Doc Brown’s profound impact. f) Board members thanked Mr. Bullock for his comments during Public Comment. B. Student Liaison Board Member Comments 1. Brooklyn Burch talked about Spirit Week and provided Mirage Hockey updates. Hockey Day in Minnesota is this Saturday. 2. Eden Giswold talked about Snoball Feb. 4 at the Holiday Inn. She asked about installation of lockers in the locker rooms. C. Township and City Communications – None XV.
