K. Gaidis to head police department

Proctor Police Sergeant Kent Gaiidis will serve as interim chief.  The announcement was made earlier today, Thursday, via a news release.

Gaidis, a 20-year veteran of the department, was elevated according to the department’s policy and procedures.

The three-paragraph release was titled “city of Proctor bids farewell to Chief of Police Walter C. Wobig.  It said that Wobig’s contract expired on December 31, 2016, along with other city contracts.

The release came out after the three-television station, the Duluth News Tribune and the Proctor Journal online edition had stories about the council action.
